Students' body lauds responsiveness of N Biren led Govt

Admitting that the present BJP led coalition State Government under Chief Minister N Biren Singh is a responsive Government, the apex students' body All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) appreciated the responsiveness of the Government toward problems that occured in the State ever since it came to power .
The student body also appreciated the Education Minister's relentless effort in expediting the accomplishment of the charter of demand submitted to the Government on September 27, 2017 and stated that if the trend continue for five years, then the State will prosper in all fronts .
Education secretary of ATSUM, Kakai Singsit, said that responding to the invitation of the Government via the Education Minister of the State, Th Radheshyam, for a meeting to find solutions to the charter of demands submitted to the State Government in the domain of Education Department, ATSUM executives met the Minister at his chamber on December 12 evening in the presence of the Commissioner, Higher Education .
He said that as the recruitment results of Assistant Professors of the colleges has already been declared due to the persistence of ATSUM, in the meeting held with the State on September 27, ATSUM urged the concerned authority to expedite their transfer and postings and the authority agreed to issue the offer form from December 14 and further assured that the postings and transfers shall be completed within January 10, 2018 .
The Minister also assured that the backlog recruitment drive for ST of the Assistant Professors of the colleges shall be undertaken in the first month of 2018, he continued.
He further said that ATSUM expressed concern over the violation of the fourth UGC's amendment regulation 2016 in the recently recruited posts of Assistant Professors and the Minister placated the team by assuring that necessary steps shall be taken so that the guidelines are adhered to in the next recruitment drive for ST .
Pertaining to the deplorable infrastructural facilities in the ZEO offices of the hill districts, the authority assured that Rs 2 crores has been sanctioned for the purpose of maintenance of the ZEO offices of the State and steps will be taken up to ensure that there is equitable distribution for both the hill and valley offices, he added .
Kakai Singsit said that in connection with the verification of the left out 436 Adhoc teachers, the Minister assured that the verification processes will be finished at the earliest .
He further said the Minister also assured that he had already apprised the UGC for reduction of API for the post of the College Principals and requested for the special permission from the HRD Ministry and UGC while reiterating his Government position that the rules and regulations was framed in consonance with UGC's directives.
The absence of BEd colleges in the hill districts would be solved very shortly as the Government has already paved the way for the approval of three hill-colleges from NCTE where regular BEd classes shall commence with immediate effect, he added .
The Minister further assured that the Government will further apprise NCTE for the opening of more BEd Colleges in the hill-districts according to the demands, maintained Kakai Singsit .
However, the demand of Government-run BEd colleges in hill districts will take time as the Government is not in a position to meet the financial involvement for the purposes of construction, recruitment of teachers and maintenances, said ATSUM education secretary .
He also said that other Charter of Demands encompassing Tribal Affairs and Hills, Health Department and Home Department will be discussed with the concerned Minister before the onset of winter Assembly session.
