96-hour chaka bandh begins in Tamenglong

Tamenglong, September 19 2015 : Tamenglong district-based civil society organizations have reaffirmed to go ahead with the 96-hour chaka bandh to put pressure on the State Government and concerned contractor to immediately start construction of the 39.5km Tamenglong- Khongsang road.

The already announced 96-hour chaka bandh began on Saturday.

It will continue till September 23. The bandh will cover all link roads including NH- 37 or Tamenglong- Imphal road, Tamenglong- Jiribam and Tamenglong- Tamei road.

However, medical, electricity, PHED, religious and media activities will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.

The decision to go ahead with the agitation was taken during a joint meeting at Zeliangrong House where representatives of all organizations including Traders Association Tamenglong, Heavy and Light Vehicle Association, Truck Drivers and Owners Association, Tamenglong were present.
