'Safeguard endangered community'

Former president of Information Centre for Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM), N Rajendro has drawn the attention of the State Government to safeguard the endangered Tarao tribe.
Addressing the 2nd day of the 5-day general conference of Tarao Students' Union (TSU) today at Khuringmul Village, Chandel, Rajendro continued that the dwindling population of Tarao tribe is alarming and as such promoting them by making healthcare and education facilities available at their villages is crucial.
Rajendro also assured the gathering that he will approach the State Government for building one bridge at Khuringmul village.
Today's programme was also attended by chief resource person of Centre for Tribal Endangered Language, Dr Th Chandramani; Tarao Tribe Union president K Mela; AITC, Manipur State president in-charge RK Piyobarta, NSUF, Delhi advisor Kiran Yendrembam and retd Professor of RIMS Dr Ch Manglem.
The workshop will end on February 22 .
