Imphal, November 18 2012:
The proposed issuing of Inner Line Permit (ILP) form from the office of Federation of Regional Indigenous Societies (FREINDS) and 'public enforcement' of the restrictive regime in Manipur with effect from November 19 has been deferred for sometime following the "positive response" given by the State Government on Sunday afternoon.
Announcing this to media, Sapamcha Jadumani, Convenor of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) informed that a meeting today with the Government representatives headed by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Law Minister Th Debendra and others was held at the latter's office chamber this afternoon.
During the meeting, the Government representatives gave a positive response and agreed to pressurize the Central government jointly for re-implementation of ILP system in Manipur.
The Government representatives also requested the Committee to wait till the Chief Minister returns to Imphal.
Sapamcha Jadumani further informed that the Committee had proposed the State government to form a 'joint legislature forum' or something like that to initiate implementation of ILP system in Manipur.
JCILPS members along with other civil organisation leaders and political party leaders from Manipur will hold a dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on November 21 demanding implementation of the ILP in Manipur, he said.
