Chief minister N Biren had convened meeting of ruling MLAs on multiple occasions to discuss the crisis lingering for over 14 months in the state.
Sources said that many of the ruling MLAs brought up proposals to meet Central leaders, especially Prime Minister to discuss the crisis.
Howev er, the CM has not formally sought appointment with the Prime Minister so far.
Earlier on September 19 last year, 27 MLAs including Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata had submitted a letter to the Prime Minister seeking an appointment.
However, on the next day, the Prime Minister's Office told the MLAs to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah instead.
The letter was signed by Th Satyabrata, L Rameshwar, Y Khemchand, S Kebi, S Kunjakeshwar, H Dingo, U Deben, S Premchandra, Md Abdul Nasir, Kh Loken, Dr Y Radheshyam, M Rameshwar, S Nishikant, Th Arunkumar, S Rajen, Kh Ibomcha, Md Ashab Uddin, P Brojen, Th Radheshyam, I Nalini, Kh Raghumani, Dr S Ranjan, K Robindro, K Shyam, T Robindro, Th Shyamkumar and Th Basanta Kumar.
Sources further said that the BJP MLAs renewed their attempt to meet the Prime Minister following the recent flare up of violence in Jiribam district after a semblance of peace during the Lok Sabha election and the cancellation of CM's visit to the district after his advance security team was ambushed on the way to Jiribam.
In the meantime, a document with the names of 19 MLAs from BJP, NPP and NPF went viral on social media with the claim of seeking replacement of the chief minister allegedly submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union home minister Amit Shah.
