Imphal, January 18 2022:
Community Party of India (CPI), Manipur State Council has categorically stated that BJP is responsible for the spike in the number of Omicron variant cases in the state, which has reached 39 as per Monday's report.
A statement of the party signed by its secretary L Sotinkumar contended that BJP had organised a series of election rallies with huge public gathering until the election code of conduct was announced on January 8 .
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also attended a public rally with thousands of people gathered at Hapta Kangjeibung without observing or enforcing Covid-19 related SOPs amid the rising cases of Covid-19 .
Today, even a small child understands the importance of wearing face masks but those who attended BJP's poll rallies did not wear masks except for a handful.
Moreover, almost all of the intending candidates of BJP do not wear masks in public gatherings.
As such, BJP should be held responsible for the rising cases of Covid-19 including the recent surge of Omicron variant cases in the state, Sotinkumar asserted.
Over 2000 people have lost their lives and number of Omicron cases has reached 39 due to the arrogance of the incumbent government under the leadership of chief minister Biren.
The ruling MLAs and ministers are flouting norms but asking the public to follow the Covid protocols, Sotinkumar noted and added that issuing statement to media only cannot contain the situation.
He also demanded the government to bear all the treatment cost of Covid patients.
