Shija Blood bank inaugurated

Chief Minister O Ibobi has inaugurated Shija Blood Bank and Transfusion Services and Shija Heart Beat at 'SHRI,l^ngol today.
The inaugural function was attended by CM O Ibobi; Union Minister of State for DoNER and Chairman of NEC, Paban Singh Ghatowar; NEC Secretary UK Sangma and Chief Secretary of Manipur, DS Poonia as the chief guest and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, O Ibobi said education and health are the two sectors his Government is paying more focus.
In order to achieve greater success in the two sectors, O Ibobi urged the private and public sectors to work in close cooperation.
Stating that commercialisation of blood is illegal and prohibited by a Supreme Court ruling, CM O Ibobi urged all concerned to donate blood voluntarily.
Managing Director of SHRI, Dr Kh Palin said the Blood Bank and Transfusion Services inaugurated today would have the Nuclear Acid Amplification Testing (NAAT), which is said to be the first of its kind in the whole of Eastern India.
He said in NAAT, there would be no commonly used 'window period' in testing blood for HIV and Hepatitis B and C.The test result could be known within four/five days.
Observing that the level ofblood donation is very low among the people, Pawan Singh Ghatowar said only 40 percent ofblood needed for treatment of patients is found through professional blood donors while urging the people, especially the youth to donate more blood.
Shija Blood Bank and Transfusion Services, a paradigm of Private Public Partnership (PPP) in North East India is being funded by the NEC through the Planning Department, Government of Manipur.
Shija Heart Beat is an advanced cardiac care centre with latest interventional cardiology facilities tp the entire population of the North East Region.
It is aimed at removing the inconveniences of cardiovascular patients in traveling outside the State for treatment.
