BIPL deplores Tronglaobi incident

Imphal, June 16 2024: After company's two out of four trucks carrying bridge construction materials were set on fire at Tronglaobi village under Moirang police station in Bishnupur district on Saturday, Bhartia Infra Project Limited (BIPL) clarified that the company never sided with anyone or community and termed the Tronglaobi incident very unfortunate.

In a statement issued by company's Guwahati-based head office, BIPL said it has been working under National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) for development of roads and bridges in the country including Manipur region.

It reminded that NHIDCL allotted BIPL work for development of the Churachandpur-Tuivai (NH-102 B) section of NH-102 road in the year 2020.Before the outbreak of violence on May 3, 2023 in the state, nearly 80 percent of construction of the NH-102 B road was completed.

As the company's objective is to improve road connectivity for accelerating overall development of the country, it neither, sided with any community in execution of its works nor succumbed to instigation from any community, the statement said adding that the company is committed to development of quality infrastructures to bring the country to the path of development.

According to the BiPL statement, unidentified persons torched two out of company's four trucks carrying construction materials at Tronglaobi while the remaining two trucks were damaged.

Such incidents were not the first time in the ongoing violence as company's vehicles and machineries were targeted earlier while there had been many incidents of attacking company's employees.

The company has been facing numerous difficulties amid the conflict situation including demand for huge amount of money and torching of site eamps in different districts of the state.

Nevertheless, the company continues to work with the commitment to bring development in the region, the statement added.

Mention may be made that on June 13 two trucks of Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) partying construction materials were burnt in a Kakching district area.
