Imphal, November 15 2019: Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts & Cultural Society (KIMACS) observed 1st Thang-Ta Day at Konung Mamang, Lamyanba Shaglen today.

Art & Culture Director Shivdas Sharma, KIMACS president Ningthoujam Ajitkumar, Council of Higher Secondary, Manipur (COHSEM) Secretary Ch Biren Singh and Thang-Ta Loishang, Sana Konung president Thingbaijam Ibohalbi attended the event as presidium members.

Speaking at the event, KIMACS adviser Konsam Jiten Mangang said that Thang-Ta is a kind of martial arts which incorporates discipline, cultural and traditional values.

Introduction of the Thang-Ta as a subject in school education is a boon for students as it will teach them discipline and lay foundation for stronger future.

As there is no faculty to teach Thang-Ta in Manipur University of Culture and other higher institutions, students who are interested in the subject are unable to pursue the subject further, he said.

He urged all authorities concerned and Government to do the needful to promote the subject.

Students who participated in the Thang-Ta refresher course and winners of 4th KIMACS Inter School Thang-Ta Group Competition were awarded at the event.
