Imphal, November 15 2015:
Joint Action Committee (JAC) which was formed against the brutal killing of one headmaster named Md Hasmad Ali alias Babu of Keirao Makting Awang Leikai under Irilbung Police Station has called a 48-hour Manipur bandh starting from 5 am of Monday.
The decision to impose the two-day State bandh was taken at a public meeting held at Keirao Makting Youth Club Ground.
JAC Convener Md Rajauddin said that Headmaster of Keirao Makting Primary Madrasa School, Md Hasmad Ali alias Babu was killed on November 1 last at Kongba Makha Nandeibam Leikai on theft charge.
The JAC has repeatedly demanded the State Government to arrest and punish the culprits but the Government has failed to give a response, said the JAC Convener.
Condemning the Government's attitude, the JAC supported by other civil society organisations has resolved to impose the 48-hour Manipur bandh from Monday 5 am till Wednesday 5 am, said Md Rajauddin.
Appealing the public to support the bandh, the JAC said fire service, electricity, media, medical related activities will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
Schools, colleges, offices and shops should remain closed during the bandh, said the JAC and warned bandh deifiers and Manipur Government to bear the responsibilities for any unwanted incidents.
