Farmers' fair held in Ukhrul, Imphal East

KVK, Ukhrul organised Krishi Swarna Samriddhi Week and Farmers' Fair as part of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Golden Jubilee celebration at Wunghon village, Ukhrul district, on Friday.
The programme was inaugurated ICAR Manipur Centre head Dr Ram Gopal Laha.
ICAR Manipur Centre principal scientist Dr Ch Basudha, Ukhrul district soil conservation officer Thuimaya Kashung, KVK, Ukhrul head Dr S Khogen, KVK, Tamenglong head in-charge Dr Kolom Rabi, KVK, Churachandpur head in-charge Dr L Somendro, and subject matter specialists (SMS) from KVK, Ukhrul Dr Solei Luirem (horticulture), Dr N Ajitkumar (plant protection), Yirmeila V Zimik (agronomy), and Dr Surjya Kanta Roy (agricultural extension) attended the programme.
Dr Laha expressed satisfaction with the natural farming initiatives in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts led by KVK, Ukhrul and encouraged farmers.

Over 84 farmers participated in the event, during which cage nets and Rabi crop seeds were distributed.
Earlier oh Thursday, KVK, Imphal East, in association with Prince Club, Waiton, organised a one-day Rabi awareness campaign cum farmer-scientist interaction programme under the Krishi Swarna Samriddhi Week 2024 at Waiton multipurpose community hall.
Waiton GP former pradhan P Surbala, KVK, Imphal East senior scientist and head Dr Y Prabhabati, and directorate of extension education, CAU, Imphal deputy director Dr T Matoulei Chanu attended the event as chief guest, president, and guest of honour respectively.
Scientists from KVK, Imphal East educated farmers on various farming techniques and pest management strategies, among other topics: Over 120 farmers from Waiton, Itam Nungoi, and Lamboikhul, who attended the programme were distributed seeds and seedlings of pea arkel, coriander, and onion.
