Imphal, August 13 2022: Commerce & Industry minister Nemcha Kipgen urged the people of her constituency to join the Har Ghar Thanga campaign as she unfurled the tricolour at her residence in Kangpokpi town on Saturday morning.

The flag hoisting event held at the minister's residence El-Shaddai was attended by BJP Kangpokpi Mandal president Thanglensei Kipgen, leaders representing various tribes and communities of Kangpokpi AC, Kangpokpi town local bodies, other BJP leaders and karyakartas, etc.

After unfurling the national flag, minister Nemcha Kipgen said that the government's Har Ghar Thanga campaign is a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate the India's Independence and to encourage people to hoist the national flag in their homes from August 13 to 15 .

The minister continued that the government has amended the flag code of India to allow the tricolour to be displayed in the open and in individual houses or buildings day and night.

"As we prepare for the historic and glorious semi-sesquicentennial celebration of India's Independence, let's all make our relationship with our national flag a more personal one rather than just keeping it formal or institutional", the minister said.

Waving the tricolour, Nemcha Kipgen led a short rally to the Brig M Thomas Ground where the participants formed a circle and shouted slogans.

As the minister kicked off the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, denizens of the district began to hoist the tricolour at their homes while the national flags were also seen on the national highway and various institutional buildings in the town.

Meanwhile, the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign continued in the Kangpokpi district on Saturday.

Since early morning, students and teachers of various schools holding national flags and placards took out Prabhat Pheri.

Students of Bishnulal High School Charhajare, Singha Rupa aided Junior High School, Thaldara aided Lower Primary School among others participated in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.

Senapati district also continued its Har Ghar Tiranga campaign on Saturday with school teachers and students under ZEO and ADC, anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, NYK Volunteers, police personnel and government officials and staff participating in a mass rally displaying the national flags.

The procession of about 1000 people began from the TNK village gate and ended at the traffic point.

The rally was flagged off by HL Jain, additional district magistrate/chief executive officer Autonomous District Council, Senapati.

Later, the Senapati district police organised a drawing competition as part of Aza-di ka Amrit Mahotsav for the students of the district on the theme 'I Dream for Poppy Free Senapati' at Multipurpose Hall, Rikhumai Taphou, Senapati.

Also, ZEO and ADC, Senapati jointly organised a spot painting competition on the theme Amrit Ka Amrit Mahotsav & Har Ghar Tiranga for students at the Multipurpose Hall.

In Thoubal, deputy commissioner A Subhash Singh hoisted the tricolour flag at DC office and DC bungalow as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.

The national flags were also hoisted at Leisangthem PHC, Health & Wellness Centre Tekcham, Urban Primary Health Centre Phouden, Lilong and Thoubal Veterinary Hospitals, Food Safety Administration Thoubal, Thoubal Forest Division Office and office of District Supply Officer.

The tricolour flags were also seen hoisted at houses in the district.
