Imphal, April 13 2015 : Department of Commerce and Industries in association with Fragrance and Flavour Development Centre, Kannauj (UP), Ministry of MSME held a one-day workshop cum farmers' conference on 'aromatic and medicinal plantation, processing and marketing linkages' today at City Covention Centre main hall, Imphal.

Commerce and Industry Minister Govindas Konthoujam, during his speech at the conference said the State has abundant varieties of medicinal and aromatic plants growing in both in the hill and valley regions.

Govindas called for the preservation of these plants for use in mass production of medicines.

The workshop cum conference was also attended by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Vivek Kumar Dewangan, FFDC, Kannuaj (UP) Principal Director Shakti Vinay Shukia, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Bala Prasad and Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research, ICAR Principal Jitendra Kumar.

A buyer-seller and contractor technical session was also hosted during the event.
