Imphal, March 13 2025:
Churachandpur Meitei United Committee (CMUC) representatives led by its co-convener Naba Ningthoujam called on Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan on Thursday and submitted a memorandum requesting steps for the welfare of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Churachandpur district who are residing in various relief camps.
Governor assured the Committee that its concerns will be looked into, a release by PRO Raj Bhavan said.
The CMUC memorandum urged the Governor to sanction a comprehensive educational package for IDP students studying in both government and private schools and colleges to ensure that their education continues uninterrupted, despite the challenges they face due to displacement.
The memorandum also called for entrusting management of relief camps to a committee consisting of the IDPs to facilitate redressal of their grievances effectively; streamline and expedite documentation process for the Churachandpur IDPs as staff concerned in Churachandpur often delay and refuse to accept their applications, exacerbating their hardships; and prompt and organised resettlement of IDPs to their respective places along with adequate support and security measures to ensure their safe and dignified return.
