UG cadres netted as Ops continue in valley

Imphal, March 12 2025:
Security forces carried out extensive search operations and area domination resulting in recovery of weapons and arrest of several UG cadres from valley districts.
However, there is no report of any arm recovery or arrest in the hills.
According to a press release issued by Manipur police control room, during a search operation on Tuesday at Keirao Wangkhem in Imphal East district, security forces recovered four firearms, seven explosives, 190 rounds of various calibres, magazines, six radio wireless sets, one vehicular radio wireless set, six bulletproof helmets, three bulletproof jackets, and five arming rings.
Another bulletproof jacket was also recovered from Tumukhong Awang Leikai under Thoubal Dam PS in Imphal East district.
On the same day, security forces arrested seven active members of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Progressive War Group) (KCP-PWG) from a farmhouse and temporary camp located at Tera Urak under Lamsang PS in Imphal West district.
The arrestees have been identified as Pebam Bishorjit Singh (27), Keisham Bishorjit Singh (28), Warepam Premananda Singh (37), Yambem Shital Singh (35), WM Arif Khan (24), Wahengbam Momocha Meitei (37), and Loitongbam Hemba Singh (35).Security forces recovered one pistol, three rounds of ammunition, a handheld radio set, 11 mobile handsets, three side bags, two wallets, a KCP (PWG) receipt book, a tax challan, two Aad-haar cards, one voter ID card, and two four-wheelers from their possession.
In another operation on Monday, police arrested a cadre of the proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive) (PREPAK-Pro), identified as Laishram Tomba alias Suresh Meitei (36), from Wangoo Chairel Leingangtabi under Kumbi PS in Bishnupur district.
He was allegedly involved in extortion activities targeting the public in Kakching and Bishnupur districts.
Police recovered Rs 1,000 in cash and a mobile phone from his possession.
On the same day, security forces arrested one cadre of the KCP (Taibanganba), identified as Maibam Virendrakumar Singh alias Saphaba (32), from Wabagai Makha Leikai Helbongmakhong under Hiyanglam PS in Kakching district.
He was also allegedly involved in extortion in Kakching and Thoubal districts.
A mobile phone was seized from him.
On Tuesday, police along with 5/9 GR apprehended an active member of the proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), identified as Konjengbam Ibotomcha Meitei (54), from the foothills of Sanjenbam Khullen village near a waiting shed under Irilbung PS in Imphal East district.
He was allegedly involved in extortion activities.
Security forces recovered 45 rounds of AK rifle, a mobile phone, and a wallet from his possession.
The same day, two cadres of KCP (PWG), identified as Khongbantabam Nanao Meitei alias Khanganba (25) and Kshetrimayum Roshan Singh alias Killer (25), were arrested from Khurai Chingangbam Leikai near the DDK Imphal Gate under Porompat PS in Imphal East district.
Police recovered two mobile phones and a wallet from their possession.
Meanwhile, security forces ensured the movement of 241 vehicles along NH-37 and one vehicle along NH-2 carrying essential goods, the press release added.
