Sit-in decries bomb threat to oil pump owner

Imphal, December 11 2024:
Unknown miscreants placed a hand grenade at the residential gate of one Sarungbam Premananda (62) s/o Sarungbam Bihari of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai under Singjamei police station on Wednesday morning.
Premananda, who runs a BPCL oil pump, is also the vice president of Social Development Organisation (SDO), Mayengbam Leikai.
According to a police re port, Premananda reported to Singjamei PS around 8.50 am Wednesday that some unknown miscreants had planted a hand grenade in front of his gate.
Subsequently, a police team arrived and safely retrieved the grenade with the help of the bomb disposal squad around 9.40 am.
Police said that the grenade had no detonator.
Meanwhile, Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai Apunba Meira Paibi Lup and SDO, Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai jointly organised a sit-in protest at the locality, condemning the bomb threat.
Speaking on the sidelines, Apunba Meira Paibi Lup president Takhellambam Rashishwori condemned the threat and stressed that all misunderstandings can be resolved through talks.
She further urged all concerned not to repeat such acts amid the unrest situation gripping the state.
During the sit-in, the protestors held placards inscribed with slogans, "Stop torturing your fellow man", and "We condemn the bomb threat in residential and crowded areas" .
