ICHAM welcomes ILPS, lauds Central Government

Imphal, December 11 2019: Welcoming the promise given by the Central Government to extend Inner Line Permit System to Manipur and lauding Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Information Centre for Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM) organised a cake cutting ceremony to celebrate the announcement.

ICHAM president Yuimi Horam, ICHAM general secretary Luny Justin, ICHAM former president N Rajendro, ICHAM vice president Dinduliang S Panmei attended the celebration among other members.

Speaking to media persons today, ICHAM president Yuimi Horam said that ICHAM along with various organisations have been demanding to implement ILP system in the State since 2012 .

Numerous CSOs, Meira Paibis and Lups have also spent the past years demanding a system which can keep the influx of illegal immigrants at bay, it said and added that many brave people have sacrificed their lives for this movement including Sapam Robinhood, who died in police action during a protest demanding ILPS on July 5, 2015 .

Even though so much have been lost in the demand for ILPS, ICHAM urged all the people of the State to stand together united and without differentiating the origin of the community, be it Meitei, Naga, Kuki, Pangal.

It further lauded the media fraternity which played crucial role in dispelling miscommunication when the unfortunate incident of Churachandpur and Moreh occurred as a result of the ILP issue.
