Naga Shanao Long Yaingangpokpi Area (NSLYA) vehemently condemned the senseless attack against innocent farmers while threshing paddy crop at Thamnapokpi, near Emmanuel Higher Secondary School, on Monday.
In a condemnation letter, NSLYA said that the attack that wounded a farmer from the Tangkhul community namely Kanshok Horam (32) s/o late Peter Horam of New Canaan village, is unacceptable.
While stressing that "such horrifying violence endangers innocent lives and may also hinder the peaceful co-existence of different communities in the area," NSLYA also warned that resorting to violence perpetuates a cycle of fear and intimidation, which hampers open communication, cooperation, and trust.
It called on those responsible to refrain from actions that could harm the existing peaceful environment and urged the public to cooperate in opposing such violence.
The NLSYA also appealed to law enforcement agencies and the relevant authorities to take stringent actions to ensure the safety and security of the public.
