Students take out protest marches in Bishnupur, Jiri

Reacting to the brutal crackdown by state forces on students protesting in the valley districts to demand replacement of the security advisor and the DGP for failing to protect citizens' lives and property, students took out a protest rally in Nambol area of Bishnupur district, on Wednesday morning.
Starting from Nambol market in the morning, the students marched towards Phoijing, passing through Nambol police station before returning to the starting point to conclude the rally.
During the protest, they carried placards with slogans such as "Internet ban cannot control the crisis," "Central forces leave Manipur, " "Territorial integrity of Manipur cannot be destroyed," "Go back, Central Forces," and "We condemn the excessive use of force by both central and state forces".
Students of Nambol area have been holding the night at Nambol market since Tuesday.
On the other-hand, demanding solution to the ongoing crisis at the earliest, students of schools and colleges in Bishnupur district submitted a memorandum to the DC for handing over to the Governor.
The district administration took up measures to prevent occurrence of unwanted incident by deploying personnel of Rapid Action Force and other central forces.
Student representatives of Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Moirang College, Diligent Public School, Intermediate Advance College, ST Xavier Higher Secondary School, Ningthoukhong Higher Secondary School and Kumbi submitted the memorandum to Bishnupur DC Lourembam Bikram.
The DC also assured to hand over the memorandum to the Governor.
Meanwhile, in Jiribam, students staged a protest on Wednesday to demand disturbance-free education and denounce atrocities committed by Kuki militants.
The rally, organised jointly by MSF, DESAM, KSA, and another student body, had the participation of students from various schools and colleges in the district.
The march starting from Jiribam Higher Secondary School headed to the DC's office at Chingdong Leikai, where a memorandum was submitted to the DC.
Along the way, the protesters chanted slogans and carried placards inscribed with words such as "We condemn the divide and rule policy of the government of India," "Remove the MLA who neglects his duties," "We condemn the attempt to disintegrate Manipur," and "Go back, central forces" .
