BJP's Dipu Gangmei elected HAC chairman

BJP MLA from Nungba assembly constituency, Dinganglung Gangmei (Dipu), who defeated seasoned Congress leader Gaikhangam in the recent held assembly election, has been elected as the new chairman of Hill Areas Committee (HAC) on Monday.
Dipu Gangmei was bom on January 1,1979 and held different top administrative posts after joining service subsequent to his success in the MPSC-conducted Manipur Civil Service examination held in 2007 .
Prior to taking the MCS examination, Dipu served as the assistant director of JDNCS (Defence) by virtue of his success in the Armed Forces Head Quarters Civil Service examination conducted by the UPSC in 2004 .
He completed MSc in environmental science from JN University, New Delhi.
Though the election of the HAC chairman is scheduled on Tuesday, the news was broken by Henglep AC MLA Letzamang Haokip on his Twitter handle as there were no other nominations filed for the post till the 12 noon Monday deadline set for the same.
"Congratulations @d_gangmei (Retd IAS) hon'ble MLA Nungba (ST) AC elected as the new Hill Area Committee (HAC) chairman," wrote MLA Haokip.
MLA Leishiyo Keishing of the Naga People's Front (NPF) was the former HAC chairman.
It may be noted that Governor La Ganesan has fixed the time and date for holding election to the office of the HAC chairman of the Manipur Legislative Assembly on Tuesday (April 12) .
"In exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-Rule (5) of Rule 219 of the Rules of Procedures and Conduct of Business of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, Letpao Haokip, member of HAC, has been appointed to preside over the meeting for the election to the office of the chairman, Hill Areas Committee of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, " said Governor Ganesan in an order.
