Imphal, September 10 2021:
All India Mahila Congress general secretary (North East in-charge) Kim Haokip has lambasted the BJP government and alleged it of dragging the state back into the dark ages by its ineptitude in governance that has resulted in statewide black out.
Speaking to some media persons on Friday, Kim asserted that the BJP-led government in Manipur is fooling the public with sweet talks but in reality, overlooking the real problems faced by the citizens.
Today's situation has risen due to the government's disregard to the long pending demand of electricity department employees who have been urging for implementation of 7th Central Payscale, but with the government remaining unresponsive the aggrieved employees have launched an agitation that has caused state-wide black out, which is very unfortunate, she noted.
Kim maintained that the state has retreated to dark ages with hospitals facing power outage at this time of Covid-19 pandemic.
Students who are preparing for their exams are unable to study and many power-dependent works have been affected, all because, the government could not resolve the issues of the employees on time.
Responsibility of all this must be borne by the state government, she contended.
Kim recalled that in the last state election BJP had promised to implement 7th Central Pay Commission for state employees, but after coming to power it has been unable to follow through it, which shows that the BJP has been open lying to the public.
When the 7th Central Pay Commission can be implemented for other state government employees, why it cannot be done for MSPCL and MSPDCL employees, she posed.
Kim further alleged that the present BJP led government has not been able to fulfil many of its promises, which is likely to cause many more agitations to arise in the state.
It will be the denizens of the state who will suffer the most from such protests because of the false promises made by the BJP.
The party must stop taking the state back to the dark ages by making same promises which it.
cannot keep, she asserted.
