Governor's award and RK Sanatombi award 2018 distributed

Governor's Award, 2018 and Rajkumari Sanatombi Devi Award, 2018 were distributed in a function organised by Managing Committee of Rajkumari Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya, Haotal (Pangei), Manipur at Asha Jina Complex, Imphal today.
On the occasion, Governor DrNajma A Heptulla, Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar Singh and Dr RK Nimai Singh, Retd IAS, attended the event as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
The Governor's Award for the year 2018 was conferred to Laimayum Preety Devi, a student of Class XI (Science), RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya, Haotal, Pangei.
Rajkumari Sanatombi Devi Award, 2018 was conferred to nine personals who excelled in various fields, including topper of HSLC Examination, teaching profession, physically challenged person, sports persons like arm wrestling, cycling, mountaineering & trekking, taekwondo, wrestling and judo.
The Governor's Award was instituted in the year 1998 in order to promote and encourage the students of Rajkumari Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya, in pursuit of excellence in academic and co-curricular activities.
The award carries a certificate and cash of Rs 15,000.RK Sanatombi Devi Award was instituted in the year 1983 to recognise and encourage passion and excellence in various fields like education, arts, drama, sports, social works, differently abled person, traffic control (police), journalism and handicraft.
It carries a certificate and cash or Rs 10,000.While delivering her speech, Dr Najma Heptulla said that knowledge is fighting the wars today and added that children are going abroad for seeking higher knowledge.
She wished for prosperity of RK Sanatombi Institutions and for further achievement of the awardees in their coming future.
As part of today's award distribution programme, top three trainees in the B Ed Examination 2017, Manipur University of RK Sanatombi Devi College of Education, Imphal, were felicitated with mementos.
Prizes were also distributed to the position holders especially students from Class VIII to XII.
Later, a cultural show was performed by the students as well.
