Imphal, April 10 2022:
With reference to the viral video of Class XI students of Sagolmang Higher Second ary School appearing for the English paper on the first day of the exam on April 8 while indulging in unfair means unabashedly, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) assistant secretary Nongthombam Thoithoiba has demanded authorities concerned to take strict action against the involved students and teachers.
In a press meet held at DESAM's office on Sunday, Thoithoiba conveyed that the Class XI students appearing for the English paper were allowed to enter the examination hall with smartphone, while the invigilators turned a blind eye to the same.
This is a taint on Manipuri society and if such acts were not rectified while there is time, it would bring disastrous consequences to the society and the state as a whole in the future.
Informing that DESAM has already warned the students and teachers not to repeat such shameful acts in the future, Thoithoiba urged the authority concerned to initiate an inquiry and take strict action against the examination OC and others involved.
"Even if the schools were conducting the examinations in their own campuses, use of unfair means and allowing to carry smartphones inside the examination hall is unfortunate.
This strongly hints at the end of moral integrity in the society and as such, efforts should be taken up to prevent this and its consequence," he asserted.
While stating that the entire situation could have been prevented if the officials and teachers responsible for conducting the exam had been more stringent, Thoithoiba urged all educational institutions to take up strict measures to prevent a repeat of the same.
