CM inspects Salanthong works, central library

Chief minister N Biren Singh has inspected the ongoing construction of the Salanthong Bridge, which spans the Imphal River.
The project is set to raise the bridge by 4 feet, enhancing its structural integrity and accessibility.
CM Biren was accompanied by works minister Govindas Konthoujam, PHE minister L Susindro Meitei and officials from the public works and water resources departments.
The reconstruction works which include plans to raise the bridge by 4 feet, initiated by the works department on Thursday, is expected to be completed within 75 days.
During the visit, chief minister N Biren instructed the authorities concerned to complete the work before the onset of the monsoon season.
He emphasised that the project aims to ensure smooth river water flow during the rainy season, preventing disruptions and mitigating flooding caused by the blockage of water flow at the bridge.
The chief minister also inspected the Manipur Central Library in Keishampat and assessed the requirements for the facility.
In a social media post, chief minister N Biren Singh stated that if the necessary infrastructural developments are made and modern facilities provided, the Manipur Central Library could be transformed into a hub for knowledge.
He also highlighted that it could help promote the habit of reading books within the community.
During his visit to the library, the chief minister was accompanied by works minister Govindas Konthoujam, Moirang MLA Th Shanti Singh, Art and Culture commissioner M Joy and other officials concerned.
