Tengnoupal, April 09 2019:
As security measure for the Lok Sabha election on April 11 (Inner PC), Tengnoupal District Magistrate today enforced Section 144 of CrPC in border areas and sealed off Indo-Myanmar Friendship bridge and Gate No 1 & 2 .
The prohibition under Section 144 will be enforced only in areas 500 metres from the border.
The prohibition enforced will end at 9 pm of April 11, said the order.
43 Assam Rifles is on strict vigil in the border town, said sources.
Meanwhile, the closure of the Indo-Myanmar Gate No 2 has crippled the normal trade between the two neighbours.
Large numbers of people/traders who wish to pass the Gate No 2 were stopped and turned away.
Authorities concerned should have warned the people in advance before sealing off the gate (Gate No 2) all of a sudden, said one of the people who were turned away by the security forces.
The border was sealed to ensure free fair and smooth conduction of the Lok Sabha election, said officials.
