Kangpokpi, October 08 2015:
Kuki Students' Organization Sadar Hills on Thursday expressed its resentment towards the laxity of the State Government and responsible department over the decrepit drainage system along the Trans Asian Highway No-1 .
General Secretary, KSO Sadar Hills Lamcha Chongloi said that the drainage system along the Trans Asian Highway is in a crumbling state which has led to flooding of the highway causing disturbance to the people during rainy season.
Lamcha Chongloi pointed out that the derelict drainage system along the highway within Hengbung village is the worst as the rainwater from the drain at Hengbung Beleijang PMGSY road is often overflowed along the highway and it subsequently entered Hengbung Government High School.
He further said that it is the frequent problem faced by the school on every heavy rainy day, which badly affects the student career.
Lamcha Chongloi lamented that "we have already sought the help of Additional Chief Engineer, PWD National Highway and responsible authorities over the issue said and highlighted the various hardships encountered by the student community requesting them to construct a pucca drain at the earliest to avoid flooding of the school by the rainwater" .
However, nothing has so far be done by the authorities, Lamcha Chongloi added.
The student organisation urged the State Government to promptly take up appropriate measures.
If the responsible authorities and State Government fail to consider the demands, the student body will resort to any form of agitation, he warned.
