CCpur, September 08 2021:
The National Highway 102B road, which normally was bustling with road widening activities being carried out by RSM Infra Project Limited and KCC under the National Highway Infrastructural Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) day in and day out, came to a grinding halt as the NH-102B Affected Association's ban on works came into effect from Wednesday.
The NH-102B road linking the state with Mizoram from Churachandpur district is about 160 km long.
But the road distance will be reduced by about 20 km after completion of the work undertaken by NHIDCL.
The National Highway 102B Road Widening Construction Works Affected Association imposed a blanket ban on the ongoing construction works from Wednesday demanding that compensation due to the affected people be paid by the government.
Talking to TPC, Association secretary Thangkhanlian informed that only 30 percent of the compensation has been paid to them by the government and the rest of the amount withheld.
He said that the ban will remain until full payment of compensation, adding that once payment is made all works will be allowed to continue.
Meanwhile, the chief manager of RSM Infra Project Anjani Kumar Chaube made an appeal to the association to ensure that works are allowed to be continued.
He said that the work agency has no say in matter of compensation and their duty is to ensure works are completed within the stipulated time frame.
This is between the government and the affected people.
If the ban continues it will affect the people, he added.
Chaube went on to say that even a day's halt of works is a great loss and since it is a matter to be dealt with the administration, they should be left free to do the works.
He also disclosed that officials had sent a detailed compensation payment estimate fixing August 31 as the last date for clearance but NHIDCL received it only on September 3 .
