RKL felicitates Raphei area elected ADC members

In a show of solidarity, Raphei Katamnao Long-Northern Students Union (RKL) on Saturday felicitated all the newly elected 6 ADC members from Raphei area in northern Ukhrul at TNL Hall.
In his speech, Jubilate Kazingmei Programme Director VVD highlighted the fundamental functions of the Autonomous District Council pertaining to its executive power and responsibilities.
Stating that ADC is grassroots governance, he categorically advocated village level administration.
He further said that forest lands in tribal areas like Ukhrul district do not come under the purview of the Indian Forest Act, while urging all the elected ADC members to work towards safeguarding the traditional lands and resources of the district.
He also ardently urged all the members to abide by the unique historical rights of the Nagas.
Attending as a special guest, Mark Luithing Phungdhar Councillor 12-Choithar DCC lauded RKL for its steadfast support for all the councillors of the Raphei area.
He then encouraged the students' body to continue to excel in their endeavors.
RKL President Mayonmi Wungkhai while congratulating all the newly elected Raphei councillors, reposed faith on them in bringing development in the northern area.
The six new councillors of the area Wezope Lohe of 1-Jessami DCC, R Lawrence of 2- Chingjaroi DCC, Themreishang AS of 3-Chingai DCC, Dickson Kumrah of 4-Nungbi DCC, Vs Paothing of 5-Huining DCC and HS Ngamshung of 6-Khamasom DCC shared their joy and aspirations with the people of Raphei area.
They collectively vowed to work for the development of the district and Raphei in particular.
Scholar Pakshimi School team presented the opening song for the function which included entertainment items performed by Timshok Worship Team and popular Tangkhul crooner Ngathingpam Tangva.
Church and social leaders, officers and public from Raphei area also attended the function.
