Imphal, May 08 2025:
The Directorate of Municipal Administration, Housing and Urban Development (MAHUD) has introduced a formal complaint mechanism for addressing issues related to waste collection and street sweeping in Imphal city.
In a public notice issued on Wednesday, MAHUD director Ng Uttam announced that residents can now report lapses in door-to-door waste collection and road sweeping by contacting the department at 8787555493 via call or WhatsApp.
Complaints will be accepted from Monday to Saturday between 10 am and 5 pm.
The initiative aims to tackle persistent grievances such as irregular or missed waste collection, improper disposal of swept garbage, public littering, and overflowing bins and encourage citizens to submit complaints with their full name, address, a description and date of the issue, the specific location, and photo or video evidence.
The Directorate said the complaint categories cover failures to adhere to scheduled collection frequency, debris left after sweeping, and unauthorised garbage dumping in public places like drains and roadsides.
Overflowing or unmaintained public bins also fall under the purview of the new system.
"Let's work together for a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment.
Your cooperation is vital," the director stated.
