Imphal, October 07 2015:
Villagers of Leimaram have warned the State Government that they will block the Leimaram Waterfall road, also known as Sadu Chiru Ising Chaibi, if it fails to repair it within the month of October.
In a press meet, Leimaram, Waroiching, Awang Heinoubok and Kha Heinoubok Development Joint Action Committee president Ningthoujam Ibomcha said that Leimaram Waterfall is one of the tourist hotspots in the state.
He said that the road has always been neglected by the government and authorities though it is the lifeline of ten valley villages and seven hill villages.
Tourists also go through the road everyday to visit the Leimaram Waterfall and Mugal Garden, he said.
People have demanded the local MLA Oinam Ibohanbi to repair the around 8 km long road from Tiddim Road to Leimaram Waterfall and submitted complaint report to the Chief Minister, Work Minister and PHD Minister on August 4 last.
But no authorities have failed to fulfill the demands till now, said Ibomcha while adding that if the government fails to repair the road within the month of October, people will launch strikes starting from November and no tourist vehicles will be allowed to pass through the road.
The villagers will also boycott local MLA O Ibohanbi if he also fails to fulfill the demands, added Ibomcha.
