CM stresses mutual respect to bring unity

Chief Minister N Biren said that mutual respect among one another is a must in order to bring unity in the state.
He was inaugurating the newly constructed annexe building of Lainingthou Sanamahi Shanglen and expanded Lainingthou Sanamahi Complex on Saturday.
Speaking as chief guest, Biren pointed out that India is a secular country.
Most of the countries in the world face a tough challenge in upholding the secular value.
In India, everybody has the right to follow any religion of their choice and one should respect all the religions, he said.
People of the state seldom trace the origin of their forefathers but the government is supporting any endeavour to honour the forefathers, who were ignored and stayed in exile in Andaman and Nicobar Islands for standing up against the British colonial rule.
The government retraced them and erected a memorial stone near Sahid Minar.
Centre also takes keen interest in the state's history of freedom movement and renamed Mount Harriet to Mount Manipur in honour of the martyrs of Manipur, he said.
One should never forget the fact that all the indigenous people of the state have blood relationship whatever religion they follow today.
The BJP government has been successful in bringing a peaceful environment and focussing on development initiatives all of which were enabled by the valuable support of the public.
Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged this during his visit, the CM reminded while calling for mutual respect in order to bring unity in the state.
Rajya Sabha MP and titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba expressed satisfaction of the development initiatives taken up for the temple and said that governments in the past had ignored the temple.
Manipur is moving towards development, peace and prosperity under the leadership of CM Biren, he said while urging for continued public support to BJP.
Lainingthou Sanamani Temple Board vice-president and Manipur State Planning Authority deputy chairman MLA Lourembam Rameshwar and Viswa Hindu Parishad Manipur's former president Adhikarimayum Yashobanta also attended the inauguration function.
