MEIPUN hosts Ningol Chakkouba feast

Ningol Chakkouba feast for women from different communities was organised by Meitei Eikhoi Punshinshi (MEIPUN) at its senior advisor's Porompat Thawanthaba Leikai residence on Wednesday.
Dressed in their traditional attires, women belonging to Meetei, Tangkhul, Kabui, and Meetei Pangal communities attended the event, bringing fruits, sweets and other offerings for their host brothers, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
The event was also attended by MEIPUN senior advisor Rajendro Pangambam, singer Sadananda Hamom, Social activist Dr Kshetri Tama, Rojit Wahengbam, Brojen Nongmaithem, Sagolsem Sanathoi, Ranjit Roger and Laimujam Pratap, among others.
Expressing immense joy, one Rose Keishing, a Tangkhul woman, shared that she would return to her village in Ukhrul and narrate about the event to her villagers and family.
Rose said she would cherish the gifts presented to her at the event and hold them close to her heart for a lifetime.
"The gift, given during the Ningol Chakkouba celebration, will forever serve as a symbol of the strong bond between the people of the hills and the valley," she said.
According to MEIPUN senior advisor Keke Wahengbam, the first Ningol Chakkouba feast it organised rings out the message to strengthen the bond of love among the indigenous people and foster unity and oneness.
