Senapati, August 06 2024:
Deeply concerned over non-maintenance of the road stretch from Maram to Purul Atongba, Purul Youth & Students' Organisation (PYSO) and Koide Youth & Students' Organisation (KYSO) have drawn immediate attention of authority concerned for initiating repair works of the PMGSY road.
According to a joint statement of PYSO and KYSO, the Maram-Purul Atongba Road was constructed under the PMGSY for a stretch of 22 km but is currently in a very poor condition due to non-main-tenance for a long time.
Since its construction, there has been no maintenance thereby leaving the road in deplorable state.
The road is the only lifeline for people living in more than 40 Poumai villages in Lepaona and Chilivai circle under Karong assembly constituency.
The road is now filled with numerous potholes, cracks and hazardous debris with onset of Monsoon rain making it dangerous for vehicular movement.
Such dangerous conditions not only cause inconveniences to the drivers but also pose serious risks to passengers.
Despite multiple complaints made to the responsible contractor and department concerned for repairing the deplorable road, no action has been taken till date, the two student bodies said and warned the authorities concerned that they may be compelled to take up democratic agitation if no road repair work is initiated at the earliest.
