Imphal, June 06, 2014:
Marking observance of World Environment Day, People for Animals (PFA) Thoubal yesterday released spotted doves which were rescued earlier by it back to the wild, stated a statement of PFA.
The statement said that the official slogan for WED observance is 'Raise Your Voice Not The Sea Level' which gives a signal to the common people that we should raise our voice and fight for climate change.
Pledging that we should fight against deforestation, poaching and other disturbances to the nature, the PFA pointed out that the recent water scarcity in Manipur was a gift from the environment for all our misdeeds.
Thousands of trees were cut down, large areas of forest were bunt down, thousands of wild birds and animals were trapped or killed, it alleged.
Meanwhile, PFA was informed on June 4that a displaced Bengal Slow Loris was found at Kokta of Bishnupur district.
One Kalam Aribam of Kokta Ward No.3 found it near his house.
He kept the animal by feeding banana for the night.
The Loris was taken over by Bishnupur's members of PFA and relocated it at a forest in Aimol Khulen near Loktak project.
The PFA also expressed its gratitude to T.M Hartlang IRS from Churachanpur who is an Asst.
Commissioner, Custom and Central Excise, Kolkata for donating a sum of ten thousand rupees to PFA Thoubal.
It further appealed to the people to donate to the organisation, as PFA is truly a non profit organisation managed with contributions from among the members.
