Imphal, September 05 2011: The All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) strongly condemned the irresponsible behaviour of the staff of DC Imphal East towards Ksh Meghajit, a senior reporter of Naharolgi Thoudang daily while covering an incident at the gate of the DC office.

Jadumani, SDC (HQ) in charge threatening to beat the reporter dragged him into the DC office while asking him not to cover the incident and not to take photographs.

Accusing the reporter of creating chaos and confusion, Jadumani seized the ID card of the reporter while threatening him of dire consequences.

AMWJU in a meeting held today at the Manipur Press Club condemned the irresponsible act and demanded the state government to take appropriate disciplinary action against the official within five days.

If the government failed to fulfill its demand, AMWJU will take up further action against the responsible official, stated General Secretary Surjeshwar in a press release.
