Thoubal, January 04 2025: After a prolonged hiatus, the district administration of Thoubal successfully organised Meeyamgi Numit on Saturday at the Election Council Hall of the DC Office Complex.

The event, organised to deliver essential services to the public, featured around 30 stalls set up by various departments, drawing an overwhelming response from the community.

The event, which began at 11 am, attracted over 1,000 visitors seeking various government services.

Initially scheduled to conclude at 2 pm, the programme was extended until 6 pm to accommodate the large turnout.

DC Ahanthem Subhash reported receiving 521 applications for different services during the event.

District-level officers (DLOs) were present to address public grievances, with the majority of concerns revolving around old-age pensions, housing assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), and other welfare schemes: The DC further informed that a field survey for the PMAY scheme would commence shortly to assess the eligibility of applicants.

In a noteworthy initiative, textbooks for the new academic session were distributed to displaced students residing in relief camps.

Additionally, livestock farmers received assistance in the form of insurance claims processed by the veterinary department.

The administration also issued vital documents, including birth and permanent resident certificates, to many attendees.

Encouraging public participation, the DC announced that the next Meeyamgi Numit would be held on the first Saturday of February and urged residents to attend the event to voice their grievances.

He emphasised the importance 6f such initiatives in addressing the needs of the people and fostering closer interaction between the government and the public.
