Police destroy poppy plantation in Tamei

Imphal, October 03 2024: A team of Tamenglong district police led by SP Luikham Lanmiyo destroyed poppy plantation at Kadi-IV and Kwilong areas under Tamei police station on Thursday.

In a post on X, chief minister N Biren said, "Well done SP, Tamenglong and personnel of Tamei Police for successfully destroying poppy cultivation at Kadi-IV and Kwilong areas" .

"I appreciate your efforts in eradicating the illegal plantations of poppy and drugs businesses from our Manipur state.

We will not rest until these poppy plantations and the drugs menace are completely eradicated from Manipur", he added.

It can be mentioned that the state government has been actively working to prevent illegal poppy cultivation in Manipur to check drug related issues in the state.

In September, CM N Biren had declared that prior to outbreak of the conflict, drugs worth Rs 60,000 crore were seized and 18,000 hectare of poppy plantations destroyed by the government under its anti-drug trade and anti-poppy plantation operation.
