Imphal, July 03 2013: The first cousin of DK Korungthang, a Congress MLA from Tengnoupal AC in Chandel district was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants this morning near Laiching Minou in Chandel district.

Sources said the deceased, DK James (60) was hacked by unidentified miscreants near his village Laiching Minou this morning around 9.30 .

Sharp cut marks were found at the forehead, neck and left hand.

DK James was attacked by the assailants at a place approximately 1 kilometre away from the village.

He was riding a Hero Honda (Glamour) motorcycle (MN-04B/1506) towards Imphal this morning, the sources further said.

His mobile phone and wallet were reportedly taken away by the assailants.

DK James, a member of the Laiching Minou Village Authority, is a chowkidar at a Water Supply Scheme in their village.

He was living with his wife and five sons.

The dead body has been deposited at JNIMS morgue for post mortem examination.
