CM condoles loss of lives

Chief minister N Biren Singh has expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families of three persons who died in the unfortunate incident of violence in Ukhrul district headquarters on Wednesday and also prayed for speedy recovery of those injured.
In an appeal issued late Wednesday evening, the chief minister expressed extreme pain over the violent incident which left one MR rifleman and two civilians dead and many villagers injured.
During the day, all possible steps have been taken up by Ukhrul district administration, district police and security forces to control the situation.
The administration with the support of local MLAs has also been looking after the injured persons and their families.
Ex-gratia and financial assistance as per the extant scheme of the state government for the time being in force will be extended to the families of the deceased and to the persons injured, Biren said adding that financial assistance for immediate requirements of the affected families will be released by the state government and distribution will be completed by Thursday.
The chief minister also said that all injured are being assisted by the government to get proper treatment in Imphal as well as in Ukhrul.
He also sought support from all stakeholders including public, public leaders and civil society organisations to bring back peace and normalcy and also to avoid recurrence of such incidents in future.
He further said that state government remains committed to resolve any issue with dialogue and mutual understanding while assuring the public that those found guilty of inciting violence shall not be spared.
