MSMEs will help boost employment generation: Union MoS

Union minister of state for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma on Friday inaugurated a national SC-ST Hub (NSSH) mega conclave at EBC Gospel Centenary Hall, Hebron Veng, New Lamka in Churachandpur district.
Speaking the programme organised by the Ministry of MSME, the Union minister observed that in a small state like Manipur where there are no big industries, MSME has a big role to play in employment generation.
He remarked that despite lacking large-scale industries Manipur is unsurprisingly compatible with highly profitable, small-scale industries.
The state has high potential for the MSME sector.
He said that the MSME ministry is targeting to enhance its contribution in.
the GDP of the country from present 30 to SO per cent and employment generation in MSME to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of making India the top economy of the world in future.
He said that the constant efforts are being made towards uplift of MSMEs through various schemes for infrastructure development, credit and financial assistance, technology upgrade, skill development along with inclusion of a large number of business units and exporters under "self-reliant India" initiative of the central government.
Verma then urged the cluster groups to take the benefits of the various programmes taken up by his ministry to strengthen small and medium enterprises in the state.
He assured that his ministry will extend its support to those organisations interested in forming such cluster groups to promote medium and small enterprises.
Manipur textile, commerce and industries minister Nemcha Kipgen who also attended the inauguration function assured all possible help from the state government's side towards extending benefits of the various schemes of the Union ministry of MSME to the deserving section of the society.
Highlighting the achievements of state government during the programme, Nemcha Kipgen expressed confidence that the conclave will improve the lives of many people belonging to SC/ST communities and will play an integral role in the development of the state and the country's economy.
The conclave attended by top ranking officials of various banks and line departments of the state government including Churachandpur deputy commissioner Sharath Chandra Arroju, superintendent of police Shivanand Surve, entrepreneurs and other beneficiaries is aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and make development reach across all sections of society, especially the marginalised groups, including SC/ST entrepreneurs.
The NSSH is currently offering various industry specific training, business orientation programmes, knowledge sessions on e-tendering, GeM, etc., to develop technical and business skills of SC-ST MSEs in close partnership with industry and academia.
Some of the courses being offered by the Hub include digital marketing, CNC operator, mobile repairing, security alarm and smoke detector, refrigeration and air-conditioning, tool design, web designing, etc.
The Hub has provided capacity building training in various sectors to 31,350 SC/ST candidates through 45 different training institutions at 162 locations in 26 states and UTs across the country, according to MSME ministry official Mercy.
Presentation of successful stories of SC-ST entrepreneurs and highlighting and creating awareness on various central and state government sponsored schemes for the SC-STs by resource persons and officials of departments concerned were the highlights of the conclave.
Awards were given to the top three entrepreneurs and stalls were set up to showcase the numerous products of different entrepreneurs in the state.
It may be mentioned that the National SC/ST Hub is an initiative of the government of India targeted towards developing a supportive ecosystem for SC/ST entrepreneurs.
