FECOCTA agitation: College teachers don black badge

College teachers in the state donned black badge on Tuesday as part of the series of protest announced by FECOCTA in pursuance of the demand of full implementation of 7th UGC pay scale, In a statement, FEGOCTA informed that college teachers will organise sit-in protest from December 6 to 9 followed by mass casual leave on December 10 and 11.They would then launch class boycott protest from December 13 if the government fails to implement the 7th UGC pay scale.
It then appealed to the state government and its authority concerned to implement the revised pay scale so that academic activities of government colleges are not affected.
The teachers waited for a long period after getting cabinet approval for four times, the statement said while urging the public not to hold the teachers responsible for any interruption in academic activities.
It has been five months since the government issued relevant order to implement 7th UGC pay scale but the same government is withholding the actual implementation till date, it added.
Teachers of Pettigrew College, Ukhrul; Lamka College, Churachandpur; NG College and YK College Wangjing donned black badges on Monday while teachers of L Sanoi College, Standard College, Imphal College, Tamenglong College, Jiri College, Lamka College, Manipur College and Biramangol College carried out black badge protest on Tuesday.
