Minister Biswajit calls for reaffirming National Unity Day pledge

Information & Public Relation minister Thongam Biswajit Singh said that the occasion of National Unity Day provides us the opportunity to reaffirm our unity and integrity for making a strong India.
He was speaking at the observance of National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Divas) organised by Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB), Imphal Bureau of Outreach & Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India on Sunday at the Wangkhei Yonglang office of the ROB.
The National Unity Day is celebrated to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's achievements.
National unity is a force that keeps the society connected and makes it stronger.
It is very important for every person to think about the benefit of the country before their own benefit.
National Unity Day makes people aware of unity in many cities as well as in many areas of our country, the minister said.
On National Unity Day, various programmes organised in schools and colleges motivate students to adopt unity and motivate others to do the same, the minister pointed out.
Thanking home minister Amit Shah for declaring Mt Harriet National Park as Mt Manipur National Park in commemoration of the brave kings and heroes of the state, the minister further stated that this shows the concern of the present government towards the north east and the region's importance in the integrity of the country.
He continued that it is also a dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make a new India which is possible when all 1.30 billion population of the country are united.
As part of the event, minister Biswajit led the gathering in taking the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge.
Resource person N Malansanba Meetei, assistant professor Department of History, GP Women's College, deliberated on the topic of National Unity Day.
The day's function was also attended by additional DG (region), Imphal, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, B Narayanan; head of office ROB, Imphal, Dr A Ibomcha Sharma and officials among others.
