Assam Rifles provides computers to schools

Imphal, August 31 2014:
22 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) has taken up a number of civic action initiatives to achieve meaningful socio-economic development in the Kakching area of Thoubal district.
In continuation of this effort, liaison with INFOSYS, Bangalore was carried out and through their 'Corporate Social Responsibility' programme facilitated the donation of 30 computers to nine Government Schools in Thoubal District.
This initiative will improve computer learning to enhance the skills of local youth, increase awareness and empower them to seek meaningful employment.
These computers will touch and transform the lives of atleast 150 children per school per year and it will only grow in the future.
Brig Gajendra Joshi, SM, Commander, 28 Sect AR urged the schools to make optimum use of the computers in educating children of the region and thereby weaning them away from negative impacts of insurgency.
He then handed over the computers to the heads of nine schools.
The function was also attended by Y Suchandra Singh, MLA, Kakching, apart from representatives of the nine schools.
The MLA speaking on the occasion praised the thoughtful initiative of the security forces and INFOSYS, Bangalore and told that this gesture will pave way for socio-economic upliftment and development of the region and inturn result in peace and harmony in the state, according to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S) .
