Imphal, May 31 2021:
Former Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Th Lokeshwar has attributed the decreasing number of positive cases in Khundrakpam AC to strict observance of existing protocols.
On Monday, the Khundrak- pam MLA donated edibles, medicines and other items for Covid-19 positive patients staying at the Community Home Isolation Centre (CHIC) opened at Naorem Bihari College through the local Covid Task Force.
Speaking on the occasion, Lokeshwar remarked the rise of positive cases in the state as well as in the constituency during the second wave of the pandemic is due to violation and non-adherence of Covid-19 protocols.
In contrast to earlier process of group testing, tests are being carried out in each locality under the supervision of Imphal East CMO Dr Indira with limited physical contact of all concerned and as such, only 14-15 people were confirmed of Covid-19 infection out of 200 people tested, he added.
On the other hand, the MLA urged the CM to look into the care and treatment of Covid patients at JNIMS hospital.
Most of the caretakers of the patients often venture out of the hospital to buy medicines or other items, unknowingly becoming possible spreaders of the virus.
He then urged for prioritizing RTPCR test instead of RAT for Covid testing, while further ensuring to shorten the delivery time of the test results to the people.
Furthermore, the appointment of a nodal officer for each district along with separate doctors and nurses for testing purposes will help resolve almost all of the prevailing administration hiccups and confusions, the MLA suggested.
Commenting on the presence of a lone officer assigned to link the Aadhaar for NFSA beneficiaries of around 10 constituencies of Imphal East, which has caused considerable delay and issues, Lokeshwar urged for appointing dedicated staff for linkage of Aadhaar.
He also appealed to the state government to ensure all poor families of the state receive their entitled benefits.
