Ukhrul, February 28 2018: The Huimi Village, as part of their Luira Phanit celebration, has organized a one day legal awareness programme yesterday in partnership with the District Legal Services Authority, Ukhrul.

The legal awareness programme was participated by around 300 villagers including village chief HW Yaolei Ramunga and his ministers, Pastor of the village and village elders.

Alek Muivah, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ukhrul cum Secretary District Legal Services Authority spoke on "Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 (POCSO)" and on "Complimentary Aspect of Customary Law and Codified Law" .

Lauding the organisers for holding such a programme, the village chief stated that it was the first time that an officer from the judiciary has visited his village and expressed the desire to open a legal aid clinic and legal literacy club at their village.
