Three ex-MLAs, former CS & DGP join JD-U

Imphal, January 31 2022:
Former MLAs Kshetrirnayum Biren (Lamlai), Kh Loken (Sagolband), Samuel Jendai (Tamenglong), former chief secretary from Bishnupur AC Oinam Nabakishore and former DGP from Churachandpur AC LM Khaute along with Kh Suresh of Uripok AC, Robart of Singjamei AC, Ahanthem Sanjay of Kumbi AC and Th Swarankumar of Oinam AC have joined Janata Dai-United (JD-U) on Monday.
The eight new entrants were felicitated in a simple function held at Hotel Classic here on Monday evening by JD-U national secretary Rampreet Mandal.
Later, a formal reception function of Th Brinda of Yaiskul AC and Thangjam Arun of Wangkhei AC, who joined the party on Sunday, was also held at Hotel Classic.
In his address, JD-U state president Hangkhanpao Taithul said that the party earlier planned to contest from 20 seats but now making plans to contest from 40 seats.
He also informed that JD-U leader and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar would be visiting Imphal soon to assess the situation.
Rampreet Mandal said that the party wants to bring a good government in the state.
The party is now planning to contest from at least 40 seats and is confident of winning at least 30 seats, he said.
Former DGP LM Khaute said that he had been involved in activism since his school and college days.
He now wants to bring development in Churachand-pur AC as well as the state by becoming an elected public representative for which is he is contesting the election.
Kh Suresh of Uripok AC said that he feels relieved that he did not get the BJP ticket as he now sees the biased nature of BJP.
He is choosing JD-U because the party is an ally of NDA at the Centre and will have a chance to become part of the government if elected, he added.
According to O Nabakishore, JD-U is gaining popularity in the state in recent days and he strongly believes that becoming part of the party will help him in serving the public better.
