Even as JAC members began relay hunger strike today, Governor Ved Marwah warned that striking employees will not be given salaries for the period of their agitation as they did not work during the period.
He announced this while speaking during the high level meeting held at the Raj Bhavan this morning.
Marwah also said that the Government is in no position to grant the demands of the employees because of the prevailing financial condition of the State, sources said.
A Government statement said that the high level meeting was attended by the advisors to the Governor, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Commissioners, Secretaries, Special Secretaries and heads of Departments of the Government.
The meeting had a detailed discussion on priority development projects including double laning and improvement of NH 53, NH 39 and NH 150, transfer of Senapati-Phaibung road to BRO, implementation of the Loktak Downstream Hydro Electric Project and Tipaimukh Dam, system improvement for T and D losses, Imphal Sewage Project (phase I), solid waste management project, extension and upgradation of railway line from Jiribam to Imphal, infrastructure development for Manipur University, College of Technology, restoration of State infrastructure damaged on June 18, implementation of PMGSY and sericulture project among others.
The meeting decided to request the Ministry of Development for North East Region to press the Ministries concerned for approving the priority projects, the statement said.
The Governor called for a concerted effort to accelerate the development projects, it added.
Sources said that the meeting also discussed the construction of FCS godown with regard to the Indo-Myanmar trade projects.
It further decided to hold the inaugural function of the Delhi Manipur Bhavan in December this year.
Meanwhile, intensifying their agitation which has entered the 42nd day, striking employees began staging relay hunger strike near the entrance of the GM Hall this evening.
Around 20 members of the JAC of the AMTUC and AMGEO led by its president RK Madhuryajit attended the relay fast today.
