Few days after first case of Omicron detected...Tighter restrictions put in place

With Manipur reporting the first Omicron variant of coronavirus in the North East a few days back, the Home Department has issued an order restricting music concerts, Thabal Chongba, celebratory feasts, large gatherings of people in enclosed areas or indoor halls.
The order has also extended the night curfew to 9 pm to 4 am .
Earlier curfew was in force from 10 pm to 4 am .
The order signed by Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar said the restrictions have been imposed keeping in mind the spread of the highly infectious Omicron variant of coronavirus in the country and the recent report of the first such case in the State too.
Essential services and medical emergencies will be exempted from the restrictions during the curfew hours, added the order.
The order also urged the public to wear masks in public places, gatherings and crowded areas and violators of Covid appropriate behavior will be penalized.
