Imphal, October 29 2015: A protest demonstration was staged today at Yumnam Leikai, Nambul Mapal against a grenade attack which left a man and his son wounded.

The protest demonstration held under the aegis of the Yumnam Leikai Nambul Mapal Women Welfare Association condemned the attack in the strongest term.

The protesters also appealed to all concerned to desist from such violent attacks in future.

Some unidentified miscreants lobbed a hand grenade at the residential gate of Yumnam Priyokanta (45) of Yumnam Leikai, Lairembi Maning at around 8.45 pm yesterday.

Both Priyokanta and his son Lakshmikanta (16) sustained injuries in the blast and they are undergoing treatment in a hospital.

Priyokanta, a Lecturer at Shree Shree Gouragobind Girls' College, Khurai was returning home in his car and Lakshmikanta was opening their residential gate to let his father in when the grenade exploded.

The protesters demanded a convincing explanation from the assailants why the grenade was hurled at the thickly populated civilian area.
