Imphal, August 28 2020:
The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) today observed its 55th foundation day at its office at DM College campus.
The function was attended by former president of AMSU Huidrom Badankumar, president of AMSU Peter Laishram, former president of AMSU Birendra Chingkham and general secretary of KSO Thanglenmang Simte as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking at the function, Huidrom Badankumar said AMSU was founded in connection with food security issues in the State.

He said, one who depends on others for food will ultimately live their lives under the shadows of those who they depend on.
Since 1965 till today, around 2000 hectares of agricultural land have disappeared due to urbanisation, he said.
Emphasizing the need to build work culture, he said the focus should be towards development of agricultural activities, plantations of cash crops, fish farming, etc in order to overcome food dependency.
"We also need to work together so that we do not become another Tripura," he said.
He also informed the gathering that a memorandum will be submitted to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in support of the popular demand of Manipuri diaspora in Assam for inclusion of Manipuri language as one of the associate languages of Assam.
Peter Laishram, speaking at the function said AMSU will start focusing on issues related to development of agricultural activities.
He also demanded the enquiry committee constituted by the Government to investigate into the issue of nominating Gallantry Award to a policeman who is named in an ongoing drug seizure case, to come up with the truth only.
Saying that there is a speculation that the 'Framework Agreement' might be finalised by September 30, he urged the authorities to make sure whatever the agreement it is, should not affect Manipur in any way.
